Shows & Movies New on Streaming

11 min

Want to stay in and watch what’s new? Me too. I used to get excited to get dressed up and stay out late, but I won’t lie to you: Those days are over. Instead, watching what is new on streaming is my idea of a good time. Heck, I mark release dates in my calendar sometimes. What can I say? I love being a homebody.

With all of the streaming services out now, it can be hard to keep up with what to watch and where to watch it, but this month, the lineups are so good that you’re going to want to make sure that you have access to all of the platforms (or at least your friend’s passwords to some). These shows and movies are about to be the topic of conversation in The Everygirl’s #watercooler slack channel, and I’ll be damned if I miss out on that.

Cancel your plans and get comfortable because it’s time to press “play.” Without further ado, here are some of the most anticipated shows and movies that are new on streaming this month.

Get Organized with The Home Edit, Season 2

Where to Watch: Netflix

Release date: April 1

We binge-watched the first season of Get Organized with The Home Edit back in 2020, so seeing another season on the lineup for April could not have been more exciting (and timely since spring cleaning is at the forefront right now). This time around, Clea and Joanna will help out even more A-list clients such as Drew Barrymore, Chris Pratt, Katherine Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart, Kelsea Ballerini, and more.

Anatomy of a Scandal, Limited Series

Where to Watch: Netflix

Release Date: April 15

This brand-new limited series (containing six episodes) follows the wife of a powerful politician, Sophie, and her life as it unravels after her husband is accused of a crime. It is based on the internationally bestselling novel by Sarah Vaughan, so if you read it, you’re going to want to catch this movie adaptation to compare them!

Ginny & Georgia, Season 2

Where to Watch: Netflix

Release Date: April 19

Ginny & Georgia is back for a second season, and I can’t wait to see what happens next. This Netflix original series follows Georgia and her two kids, Ginny and Austin, as they take on a new town. What follows is secrets, town (and teen) drama, and a little bit of romance.

Along for the Ride

Where to Watch: Netflix

Release Date: April 22

Another teen romance movie? Yes, please. Along for the Ride is based on a YA novel of the same name by Sarah Dessen. It follows Auden and Eli’s overnight quests to live a carefree life the summer before college. Sofia Alvarez, who previously worked on the To All the Boys… series, is the director of this movie, so that can only mean one thing: It’s going to be good.

Ozark, Season 4 Part 2

Where to Watch: Netflix

Release Date: April 29

The final few episodes of Ozark have arrived. The first part of season four aired about three months ago, so we have been anxiously waiting to find out what will hit the fan to round this series out. There will be seven episodes released, and they will pick up right where they left off.

Grace and Frankie, Final Episodes

Where to Watch: Netflix

Release Date: April 29

I cannot stress this enough: finally. The final episodes of Grace and Frankie have been a long time coming! After seven seasons, this series is coming to a close at the end of April, and to say we are sad about it would be an understatement. This show has an all-star cast that we will miss dearly, but we just can’t wait to see how it ends.

Apple TV+

 Slow Horses

Where to Watch: Apple TV+

Release Date: April 1

Brand-new thriller and drama series Slow Horses is hitting Apple TV+ on the first of the month. It is about a dysfunctional team of agents and their boss’s journey to defending England from sinister forces.

Shining Girls

Where to Watch: Apple TV+

Release Date: April 29

Years after newspaper archivist Kirby Mazrachi survives a brutal attack, she learns that a recent murder is linked to her own trauma. To understand the truth, she must confront her past with the help of a reporter. This new crime, drama, and mystery series will have eight episodes.

Woke, Season 2

Where to Watch: Hulu

Release Date: April 8

Starring Lamorne Morris, this comedy series is about a Black cartoonist who’s trying to balance art and social activism. After an unexpected event happens to him, he has a fresh outlook on the world at the same time that he is on the brink of success in San Francisco. This season will have 10 new episodes that will all hit Hulu on the same day.

The Hating Game

Where to Watch: Hulu

Release Date: April 10

Lucy Hale and Austin Stowell star in this enemies-to-lovers movie about achieving professional success without compromising ethics. As they try to one-up each other at work, their rivalry gets a little complicated due to their growing attraction. This is based on a novel by bestselling author Sally Thorne.

The Kardashians

Where to Watch: Hulu

Release Date: April 14

This is, without a doubt, the most anticipated new title coming to Hulu. After airing on E! for 20 seasons, the family is making their way over to Hulu. The trailer suggests that we will be getting to see “a whole new side of the family” this time around.

Fantastic Beasts: A Natural History

Where to Watch: HBO Max

Release Date: April 1

Harry Potter fans, listen up: Stephen Fry (the narrator of U.K. Harry Potter audiobooks) stars in a new documentary all about J.K. Rowling’s magical creatures. He travels the world to uncover the secrets behind some of our most loved fantastic beasts, the real-life creatures that inspired them, and, of course, he chats with J.K. Rowling and the movie’s visual effects supervisor Christian Manz along the way.

The Batman

Where to Watch: HBO Max

Release Date: April 19

I like Batman just as much as the next person, but if I had to choose between Batman and Edward Cullen, I’d probably choose Edward Cullen. That’s why I am eager to see Robert Pattinson’s performance in the newest Batman movie. It was only just released on March 4 in theaters, so I am pleasantly surprised to see it is new on streaming already.
